In a very rainy game against Quitman at James Bamberg Stadium, the Cardinals prevailed 30-16. The game was played at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, after being rained out Friday night.

With the wins over Jefferson (29-26) and Quitman (30-16), the Cardinals have secured a spot in the playoffs despite their 48-14 loss to Mineola Friday. They still have their last home game on the schedule against the Harmony Eagles Friday for senior night. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Eagles are 6-4 on the season and 2-2 in district play. If the Cardinals (2-2 in district) win, they will be third in district. If Harmony wins, they will be third in district and Sabine fourth.

“The thing that will carry the young men through the end of district and into the play-offs is the belief in one another and their desire to be a family,” athletic director Mark Comfort said.
