Sabine powerlifter sophomore B.J. Stidham won gold in the 2018 State Championship in the 123 lb weight class at the Texas High School Powerlifting Association meet in Abilene. He finished with a squat record of 455 lbs, a bench press of 240 lbs and a deadlift of 440. This made his overall total 1,135 lbs which gave him the win by 55 lbs. The 455-pound squat is a new state record for the 123-pound weight class.

Sophomore Erika Lowery placed 11th at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association’s state meet in Waco on March 8.
