Art students came home with “Best of Show” in both art competitions at the “KilGogh” High School Art Competition on Saturday, March 23. Adela Hernandez won “Best of Show” in the “Gogh with the Flow” contest with her Van Gogh style painting called “The Flow of Everlasting Beauty.” Brooke Shearer took “Best of Show” with her painting “A Wild Thirst.” This is the 4th year in a row that Sabine art students have won “Best in Show” in this competition.

Vincent Van Gogh (Performance artist Walter Michael DeForest from New York City) visited the Sabine High School art students Friday, March 23. He played the part of the famous artist perfectly down to his Dutch accent.

“The performance was absolutely amazing, and he had the students so mesmerized that they didn’t want him to leave,” art teacher Jennifer Davis. “His visit was definitely an educational and inspirational treat.”
