After playing an intense game against White Oak, the Lady Cardinal volleyball team took a loss on Oct. 1. However, they took home a win during the Ore City game on Oct. 5, winning all three matches.

“When we compete against White Oak, it’s a different type of energy, it’s a different level of competition,” volleyball coach Courtney Olbert said. “ I know for me it’s more of a rival thing, and I think the girls feel the same way.”

After a 3-0 loss against No.1 ranking White Oak, and a 3-0 win against Ore City, the Sabine Lady Cardinals have a 5-2 record in district, putting them currently in third.

“I think we learned a lot from the loss,” senior and team captain Kaleigh Carney said. “Sometimes you learn more from a loss than a win.”

The Lady Cards used what they learned and quickly bounced back, winning their match against Ore City with a score of 3-0.

“We each have our positions we are good at,” senior and team captain Ally Gresham said. “Everyone was on their A-game last night.”

The volleyball team will play Gladewater at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, and have four more district games until playoffs.

“I think we could go far and win any game if we put our hearts into it,” Carney said. “I really think we could go far in the playoffs.”
