Opinion: Top 5 Fast Food Restaurants

Brendan Miller, Writer

With 204,555 fast food restaurants in the US, it can be hard to decide which one to pick when it’s time to eat. I am going to pick my top five fast food franchises, so you don’t have to on your way home from work.

Number 5 – Taco Bell

At number 5 is Taco Bell. Taco Bell is definitely not the best place on the list, but has a lot of really good meals and deals. Taco Bell is one of the healthiest fast food places to go, the burritos are all very filling, and specials are usually delicious. Overall, I would say that Taco Bell is a very good restaurant if there are no more food stops around. Definitely try one of their crunchy burritos or the five layer burrito.

Number 4 – Subway

Subway is coming in at number 4. Being one of the largest franchises in the world, Subway deserves to be on the list somewhere. It’s hard to go wrong when eating Subway as long as one knows what one wants. When I go to Subway, I get the meatball sub on Italian bread, and it is one of my favorite meals to get ever. The only downside to the Subway is that they only serve wraps, subs, and other small things; there is just not enough diversity to make this a regular stop.

Number 3 – Chipotle

If one were to combine all the good aspects of Subway and Taco Bell, they’d get Chipotle. Running since 1993, Chipotle has powerhoused its way to the number three spot by having some of the best ingredients I have had. If there is an opportunity to get Chipotle, I always get the Carnitas Burrito; it is HUGE,  the tortillas are always heated to perfection and like I said, the fillings are always perfect as well. Chipotle does have a few items that aren’t great, but it’s really hard to not find something that can be enjoyed there.

Number 2 – Chick-Fil-A

Chick-Fil-A is undeniably one of the best food franchises around. They have top tier chicken, and all of the menu items are amazing. From the wraps and the dressings they serve, to the chicken sandwiches and the almost infinite selection of sauces. Unless chicken isn’t ideal, I feel it’d be impossible to not find something to like here. Also, the grilled chicken wrap and the ranch they serve is the best food item on this list; its filling and light, but tastes perfect.

Honorable Mention- Raising Cane’s

This restaurant is somewhat slept on sometimes. Frankly, it deserves so much more credit and should be as popular as Chick-Fil-A. Raising Cane’s has the best fried chicken strips, best signature sauce and best toast out of any restaurant I’ve ever had. The reason it’s not making the 1 or 2 spot is the lack of other food items. Raising Cane’s only serves one type of chicken, which don’t get me wrong, is great, but I’d get tired of it after a while of repetitiveness.

Number 1- McDonald’s

Obviously, McDonald’s has to be on the list somewhere. It’s one of the largest food franchises there is and for a good reason. They sell good tasting food for pretty cheap. The nuggets are good and pretty much all of the burgers are good. They also have a wide variety of dessert foods and drinks, and the fries are unmatched. Bring back the McRib.
